Novastart

Novastart is a Linux distribution with an infinite canvas. It is an operating system built for people who want a spatial, flexible way to organize their computing work instead of being limited to stacked windows and fixed virtual desktops. Our company is based in Hawthorne, California, and we build and maintain Novastart as software for desktop computing.

The central idea behind Novastart is the infinite canvas. Rather than switching between separate workspaces, users can arrange applications, documents, notes and projects across a single, endlessly scrollable surface. This lets you keep related work close together, zoom out to see the big picture, and move back into focused detail whenever you need to. The approach is designed for developers, designers, researchers, writers and anyone who juggles many tasks at once and wants their desktop to reflect how they actually think.

As a Linux distribution, Novastart builds on the open source ecosystem that people already know and trust. Users get the stability, security and flexibility that Linux is known for, together with a fresh interface that treats the whole screen as a creative workspace. Whether you are writing code, reviewing documentation, sketching ideas or managing several projects side by side, the canvas gives each activity its own place and keeps everything easy to find again.

We created Novastart for individuals and teams who care about how their tools feel. Our goal is to make everyday computing calmer, more visual and more organized. We welcome feedback from the community and continue to improve the system over time.
